If You Only See One Film About Pedophilia...

This year, see The Woodsman! I laughed, I cringed. Unlike the protagonist in Happiness, Walter--aka The Woodsman--does a much better job at controlling his inner demons, and even helps nab another child predator. Nevertheless, Walter is fairly creepy. You think he's got a handle on things and then...Well, I won't say what happens, but while I was watching the scene I was thinking "No Woodsman, NO! Bad Woodsman!"

The movie came out last year. I could have seen it in the theaters. I didn't, however, because I have Netflix, and there are certain films I'll spend money on in the theaters, and others I'll think, "Mmmm...I'll Netflix this one." Films about pedophilia often fall into the latter category. Those and really bad big budget films. I've had Catwoman in my queue for months now. Every time it creeps up the list, I move it back down. There are other films I've had in my queue for over a year. I kind of want to see them, and yet I probably don't.

So my DAT recorder arrived this morning. I panicked when it didn't arrive this weekend. I thought it would come Saturday. So it came today. Very excited. First slight problem, the free microphones that came with the package I bought are omni-directional, not directional. Also, I don't think there's a stereo plug. I have to plug two microphones in the back. We'll see how it goes.

Inspirational Starbuck quote #25:
"The wise healer endures the pain. Cry. Tears bring joy." -- Erykah Badu, Musician. Her songs can be heard on Starbucks Hear Music station, XM Satellite Radio Channel 75.

Starbucks has a radio channel? It begs the question, if businesses like XM Satellite and Starbucks can enjoy a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship, why can't countries? We should be able to come up with a mutually exploitative relationship with Iraq, shouldn't we? Instead of stationing troops abroad, perhaps we can station ad execs and marketers. But what would Iraq need from us? Perhaps a couple radio channels? I don't know. Will have to think on it a bit.

If anyone has suggestions....

Renting is good, but nothing compares to my recent purchase of the 1st season of Mork & Mindy.

Speaking of Pedophilia, I still refuse to watch any of the Olsen Twins crappy movies. Speaking of crappy actors:

Inspirational Actor Quote #54

The Bible is action-packed. The Koran is action-packed. Even Budda had a few
moments of suspense in his life. Yet when we make action movies now, we're
considered moneymaking machines with no esoteric worth, and that's not true at all. There's a lot of artistry that goes into what we do.

-- Sylvester Stallone

Yes, we will look back at Rambo II and question why it did not win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Speaking of Vietnam, do you know the famous Vietnamese comic Dat Phan. You should you met his brother Dat Recorder. LMAO.

Stereo Plug for the microphone? Hm, that's not quite possible with one microphone unless it is a stereo mic.

Omni directional probably will capture much of the audience and quite possibly more than you'll want, especially if it is placed at a fair distance away from you. I think you'll do fine with a Sure SM57 -- a directional dynamic mic. Even a used one for around $50 would do. They are durable and if placed and pointed appropriately, it'll pick you up and enough of the audience i suspect.

I'll stop nerding it up. Sorry.

Martin Sargent Update:

Martin accidentally enrolled himself in the Navy and is currently stationed off the coast of the Persian Gulf.

Ummmm, I haven't spoken with him in a month or so but I know he's been taking important meetings with important people. Joey the Intern probably has the scoop because he knows everything.
