Got Up at Six-Thirty This Morning

I'm still not used to getting up before ten, but I've got to squeeze a lot into my day. As I mentioned, I'm the web producer for a new show on a new network. The show is "Rough Cut LA" on LTN, Local Television Network. It's offered in Southern California and you can see what channel it's on in your area by visiting the website. Wow. That kind of sounded like a commercial.

Anyhoo, that means that all the random stuff that pops into my head now ends up on the "Rough Cut" website. Come to think of it, I may start posting some of my stuff from there over here. You know, try and drive folks to the site.

I want to try and do some fun stuff on the site, including creating video clips explicitly for the website, get creative.

Ummm...I'm about to go pass out.

ALSO, I HAVE A SPAM QUESTION FOR YOU GUYS:

My email address is now inundated with crap from webbots. How can I set it up so that anyone who emails me has to be approved, or manually type in some password? I know I've had to fill some out to contact friends of mine. I need it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Hmm, about the spam, you could require that anyone who emails you puts a certain word in their email, and set up a filter on your end so that mail with that word goes to the proper folder. It would at least weed out the bots from real live people.

There's probably a better solution out there, though.

*sigh*

Laura, what sort of email reader do you use, or is it web based like Yahoo!, Hotmail, etc? I'm assuming Outlook or something similar. There's AntiSpam programs available to help you if it's regular old POP-based email. I should be able to hook you up in that case.

I use Yahoo! and I rarely get spam at all. That's not a plug, but I do like it.

Laura, you've already gotten some good suggestions. Here's what I do:

I use my main address for most things, but I have a filter that redirects most of the stupid stuff. I check it daily.
I use the others nnly when looking for a particular email and that's when I check them. Othersise, I rarely do.
Gmail have nice settings and are always developing more. It's worth checking every so often to see what they have in the works.
You can also have all your filtered email selectively forwarded to one address that you check, so you aren't checking 500 addresses from 50 different services.

I have multiple email addresses. The problem is that the email address listed on my blog, where I get email from people who contact me from reading my blog or my website, is now full of spam. So I don't really want to change my email address. I have a bunch of other email addresses for my identity theft ring and secret porn empire, and those are all spam-free.
