Went to the vet. Again. Seems my pooch has some kind of mystery ailment that defies any actual diagnosis, although my pocketbook is almost flatlining. First she had a high fever and was lethargic. Trip number two revealed an angry red throat and a swollen, red eye. She got a shot of cortisone and suddenly had an appetite and some personality. It appeared we were out of the woods. Then one morning I woke up to find her throat swollen to immense proportion on the right side. Took her in again. They took blood samples which ended up not shedding too much light on the issue. Today I take her in again and the swelling has moved to both sides of her throat. I'm beginning to think she's been infected by some kind of shape-shifting virus.
Hopefully the lymph node samples they took today will reveal what kind of infection/allergy/alien pod she has.
I'll try and be more exciting next entry.

I've run across this very problem myself...the solution: remove all traces of YOUR identity from the pooch (yes, I mean the tracking device implanted under the skin...a melon baller is particualarly effective for this procedure)and then "forget" to lock the doggie door at night and then "remember" when he/she's out doin' her thang....ooops.
Sending all good thoughts your way. To me, pets are more important than children! Hope she gets well soon. Be strong.
