I Heart Ripcast

But first, a little bit of inspiration brought to us by a corporation that really cares:

Starbuck's "The Way I See It #36": Mother-love is not inevitable. The good mother is a great artist ever creating beauty out of chaos. -- Alice Randall Novelist, "The Wind Done Gone" and first black woman to write a No. 1 country song.

Ummmm, I hate to admit that I don't quite get this. Why isn't it inevitable? And what is mother-love? I'll let it slide, however, because the No. 1 country song is quite an achievement.

Here's another: #38 There are no limits on how much the heart can love, the mind can imagine, or the human being can achieve. -- Lynne Cox, Author of Swimming to Antarctica. She broke the world record for swimming the English Channel.

That quote's definitely inspirational, but I think there are limits on what humans can achieve. But I think she's speaking about humankind in general, so I'll go along with that. However, I know many individual humans that have severe limitations, many of whom I run into at open mics. As comics, these people would be better off attempting to swim the English Channel than making one person, much less an audience, laugh.

So my latest addiction is Ripcast. I love it and am using up disc space on my computer like nobody's business. Ripcast let's you grab audio from hundreds and hundreds (thousands & thousands?) of online radio stations, and it conveniently organizes the stations by genre. I've amassed a nice collection of comedy albums using Ripcast, as well as some fun 80s classics like Cocteau Twins and The Cure. I'll record hours and hours of radio, go through the files and delete anything I don't want. It can get a little messy because some stations won't download properly and some music is mislabeled. Still, it's a great way to snag music online without getting the RIAA after you.

All right. Nothing else at the moment.

I’ll take a shot:

I’d say that “Mother-love” simply means the love one gets from their mother. And just because you have a mother, or just because you are a mother, it doesn’t mean it’s all magic and ooey gooey. Maternal love therefore, “is not inevitable. “

“The good mother” (the author is stressing GOOD I’d say) “is a great artist” (has imagination and creativity) “ever creating beauty out of chaos” – she can deal with yo shit and put up with yo crap and still stay on the good foot.

How’d I do? Win a shirt or anything?

You might want to add allegedly to your post because the RIAA probably knows about this site already. I am sorry but they give rewards if I turn in people downloading music illegally. It is part of my 1000 hours of community service.
