Some Surprising Developments in Iraq

The Associated Press just reported that the Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi has ordered a vote recount for Sunday's election after a high percentage of voters complained that the ballot was confusing. In the Sunni Triangle, where voters are overwhelmingly Arabic, 65% of voters supported candidate Pat Buchanan, a devout Christian and American.

The Northern Kurds have filed a flurry of lawsuits alleging discrimination after many of them reported being turned away from polling stations for "not looking Kurdish enough".

Despite these developments, President Bush insists that the election was legitimate and conducted fairly.

Ashcroft is leaving the administration. Maybe he can lead the choir while Pat preaches.
