Are You w/ 98% or 2%

Of the population?

I grabbed this quiz off America Blog and somehow found myself in the 2% family. I think it's probably more to do with my questionable math skills than that I'm inherently unique. In any case, it is rather strange that 98% of the population would come up with the same answer (a non-math related answer to a non-math related question).

Check it out. Lemme know what you guys came up with.

At the end of this message, you are asked a question. Answer it immediately. Don't stop and think about it. Just say the first thing that pops into your mind. This is a fun "test"... AND kind of spooky at the same time! Give it a try, then e-mail it around (including back to me) and you'll see how many people you know fall into the same percentage as you. Be sure to put in the subject line if you are among the 98% or the 2%. You'll understand what that means after you finish taking the "test".

Now... just follow the instructions as quickly as possible. Do not go to the next calculation before you have finished the previous one

You do not need to write or remember the answers, just do it using your mind.

You'll be surprised.

Start: How much is:

15 + 6

3 + 56

89 + 2

12 + 53

75 + 26

25 + 52

63 + 32

I know! Calculations are hard work, but it's nearly over. Come on, one more...

123 + 5

QUICK! THINK ABOUT A COLOR AND A TOOL!

Scroll further to the bottom...

A bit more...

You just thought about a red hammer, didn't you?

If this is not your answer, you are among 2% of people who have a different, if not abnormal, mind. 98% of the folks would answer a red hammer while doing this exercise.

i saw this email a few years ago...but had forgotten what the question was that was going to be asked. I'm weird so of course I'm in the 2%. my color and tool was a Blue Hoe. Probably because I feel blue, and I of have a thing for hoes.

I thought of a red protractor. I used to play with one but don't have a clue on how to use one...even a red one since the only ones I have ever seen where silver.

I chose a green wrench. Blue hoe? I just looked that answer up. 86% of people who come up with "blue hoe" as an answer are prone to violence.

I thought of red hammer, I guess I must be in that 98%.

I thought of a black hammer. I know that must mean something. Though blue and a wrench crossed my mind too.

I thought of a purple screwdriver. I'm so unique and beautiful.

That was spooky. I guessed red hammer as well. I can see how people can be fooled by the likes of John Edwards and Scientology. They make you a believer. The force is not strong with this one.

I pictured a red wrench.

This reminds me of a similar test:
picture a spool of thread,
what color is it?

Most people will say red....probably because it rhymes with thread.

Try that one on your friends!

Blue hammer. But then "What's your favorite color" = blue and I use hammers as metaphors in my work all the time. Like "We don't need a sledgehammer solution for this problem."

Hoe... uhuhuhuuhhh.

Butternut,
I would like to hear more phrases that you use at work. And if you have stories of stupid employees, I'd like to hear those too.

I thought of a green screwdriver...I don't know why not a hammer? I guess I was still thinking of the "what would jesus drive?" post on your blog. I don`t know why a screwdriver though...

I thought of a red adze. An adze is like an axe but the blade is perpendicular to the handle vice being parallel. Usually the back is flat and you can use it as a hammer. Now knowing that the usual answer is red hammer I'm feeling weird. As in, where do I come up with this stuff? I do things like this to myself all the time. Adze?
