Anyone involved with caring for the elderly knows how difficult life can be the older one gets. Walking becomes difficult, necessitating the use of walkers. Many elderly people have trouble reading and need to avail themselves of large-print books. Similarly, firing a gun with arthritis can be problematic. Until now, however, our nations' seniors had no recourse, forced to experience their golden years unable to pack heat. Thankfully, a new company is coming to their rescue.
Called the Palm Pistol, the weapon is designed for people who have trouble firing a normal handgun due to arthritis and other debilitating conditions.Daily living. I can't tell you how many times my grandmother would ask me to open a jar or shoot a hummingbird because she couldn't do it herself. Unfortunately, she never had access to a "medical" gun.
"It's something that they need to assist them in daily living," says Matthew Carmel, president of Constitution Arms in Maplewood, New Jersey, which hopes to manufacture the Palm Pistol - now just a patent and specifications.
These devices will be great for seniors who have alzheimers or dementia. I can't anticipate anything bad happening at all.

I’m always suspicious of advertising in the US. How easy are these palm-pistols really going to be for America’s elderly and infirm to shoot and reload for instance, during a running gun battle through rain slick alleys at night.
The elderly could instead purchase any handgun and have a gunsmith work on the trigger mechanism to give it a much lighter pull – a so-called hair trigger. Then the piece would become so easy to operate even a baby could throw a ton of lead down range.
Besides, when old people need to use deadly force they almost always use poison or a motor vehicle or both. I think it depends on the situation.

Daily?? I guess these retirement homes are going to be located in tough communities with this recession. Like in Iraq, or... Mumbai.
yea that's crazy, this can't be f'real?!? this is like reverse weapons technology. what's keeping this out of the hands of kids in iraq? africa? U.S.A.? it's a sad state of affairs that's for sure.
