Mother's Day in Chinatown

Spent Mother's Day shooting in Chinatown with comics Hari Kondabalo and Greg Proops. This is us in the Grand Star Jazz Club after a stand-up show this afternoon.

I hope I don't jinx this project by writing about it, but I can say that this show would be AMAZING if it gets picked up, if only to hang out with Hari and Greg.

Spending time with Proops is like hanging out with a human encyclopedia. Want to talk about T.E. Lawrence, the Bataan Death March, the drug habits of your favorite legendary actors and anything related to cinema? Greg's your guy.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of both these guys and have got my fingers crossed that I'll be able to work with them in the relative near future.

Happy Mother's Day, all.

Holy smokes. When I was 13ish, I spent a LOT of time watching the original British volumes of "Who's Line is it, Anyway?" (the one with Clive Anderson and Richard Vraunch) and I always hoped that behind the scenes, Josie Lawrence and Gregg Proops were an item (this was mostly because Greg Proops reminds me a little of Elvis Costello, my other crush at the time). I still sing Josie Lawrence's impromptu reggae song about an ironing board all the time.

Also, my mom's dad was in the Bataan Death March and a POW in the Philippines for 3.5 years. So uh, if he or anyone else cares, I have cassette tapes of his interviews that are very candid and highly morbid and should probably be in the Andersonville POW museum but I don't know how to do that.

I seriously hope your show gets picked up.

I would love to listen to those tapes, but I wouldn't do anything scholarly with them. Just think it would be fascinating.

Thanks for the confidence in me, Will. I never think I'm the funniest person (well, sometimes...). This time, though, Hari killed it and Greg is Greg.
