RIP Local Television Network

This will be a quick post. Los Angeles' newest local television network is no more. We had a company-wide meeting this morning and learned that it has basically collapsed and so I suddenly have a lot more free time, which probably means more blogging.

The website went down as well. Anyone who's tried some of the video links on this blog will notice they don't work. I need to find a way to post the video somewhere else, which leads me to one of my New Year's Resolutions, which is to make my actual website the destination for video, audio and calendar information.

In any case, I shall be discussing this latest income hiccup tomorrow on the podcast.

Going to bed now.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. A few years ago I was an admin for a family owned company of Union pipefitters - one day the owners Wife (who technically ran things) came in to tell us that after 25 years her husband had taken all of the foremans company holdings, sold them, gambled with them and lost. Something like 16 mil. About 70 of us - all close friends, most with family - turned out into the snow because of some shmuck's gambling problem.

Here's to rolling with the punches.

I'm sincerely sorry that you lost your job in spite of the fact that what's bad news for you is good news for me. I get to read more Swish-incites.

You do realize you lost your job because you made fun of what Pat Robertson said about Arial Sharon. Although, I really should be much more concerned about what's going to happen to me.
I've said Pat Roberson is both delusional and full of shit. I've called Fat Bastard a terrorist, a genocidal war criminal. I'm only wish Yasser Arafat was alive to dance on FB's grave.
I believe "Evangelical Christian" is an oxymoron. Aren't Christians suppose to remove their logs before bitching about other people's splinters?

So if it makes you feel better, I'm sure Reverend Robo believes there isn't a disease, natural disaster, injury, or act of misfortune horrific enough to give me what I deserve.

Oh, so sorry to hear that, Laura...

Well, you'll get a new job soon, I'm sure; you have a good resume and lots of experience with various jobs and a great and funny personality.

Just exploit some connections and you'll ba back on your feet in no time.

Laura, I can sympathize, as I've been laid off more times that I care to mention. Companies that folded - companies that never got off the ground - I've even worked for a person that got laid off, which in turn got me laid off.

The only advice I can give that might be of some help in the future is this: DON'T ATTEND THOSE SHORT-NOTICE COMPANY-WIDE MEETINGS. They are NEVER good news. If you hear one announced, STAY AT YOUR DESK. Put headphones on or something, but DO NOT go that that meeting!!!

Holy crap. I knew something was wrong when I opened up your blog and noticed tons of posting recently. That could only mean one thing... free time.

Really sorry to hear the news, Laura. Hollywood is sure a tough business. Living in L.A. you get to know a few people trying to make it in the business and it's always tough. Hang in there, you sure have talent. And fan boys. That always helps.

To be honest, I though LTN was doomed from the start. It was on in the evening and catered to the young party crowd. They are usually out partying when the channel is on. I realized this when I was going to recommend the channel to my sister who meets that target demographic, except she's never home between 8pm-1am.
