I've been super busy, apparently since Michael Jackson's death. Today I write because I am petty and annoyed. My AIM account was hacked and I can no longer access it. And I learned that AOL has no connection to AIM accounts so if you're hacked, there's virtually no recourse. I may have filed some form or other, but have no confidence the issue will be resolved.
One teachable moment has come from this: From now I I will only use associate free email accounts with accounts from any websites I use. For example, I don't know what my Flickr.com password is, and because I no longer have the email account I used to set up the page, I'm forever blocked from the account.
Frustrating. I'm sorry to inflict this on anyone else.
Done complaining.

When you say "hacked," do you mean to say you fell for one of those scams where they say if you email them your password they'll send you the password to someone else's email account, because you're trying to get into this guy's email to see if he read an email that you sent while you were drunk, but really it was a scam the whole time and they stole your password and hacked your account?

Gijyun, I don't know exactly what happened. I think I clicked a link my neighbor sent me and it was some sort of AIM challenge. So I clicked "challenge" and "won". I don't remember typing in a password or anything, but my account sent it off to other people.
And now I have a new AIM account. Gtalk you say? Can Gtalk people talk to AIM people?
1. That blows, sorry to hear about it. I hope only your account was hacked and they didn't read through your mail and get other information.
2. Friends of mine shouldn't get hacked like this. I'll see what I can do. You know the drill.
3. AIM? Really? Is this 1998? I use Yahoo! IM all day. It's ... tolerable, but it's a hell of a lot better than anything AOL related.
4. My sister infected her boyfriend's PC by clicking on a Facebook fake link. Didn't lose an account or anything.
